the relational human

There is a uniqueness in each human-a daimon, a seed, a mission, a nature, a purpose-living at the heart of us, waiting for recognition of this nascent desire, longing, need to become. It languishes in waiting, perking up in the sunshine of attention.

It thrives when nourished, like a plant, like a child in the glow of those who love her in a way that she feels seen. To be seen is the prerequisite for this seed to flower to fruition. The seeing can be an outer experience, a parent or friend or teacher or lover who seems to see diretly in to one’s heart and soul. The seeing may appear from art-words read, a song heard, imagery that resonates. Or it can be an inner experience of recognition, of deep listening to oneself. Either way, it is as if the seed has been exposed to water and sun for the first time. It is an awakening, a revelation, ownership of what has always been but never really seen until now.

Curiosity leads to the questions that will be nourishment for the journey along the path of life. What a wonder it is to feel seen. At the same moment this flicker of knowledge hits home, we are immediately flooded with wonder. And we find ourselves, not only more deeply connected to our self, but suddenly belonging more fully to life, itself.
